What is aqueous coating?

Aqueous coating uses a water-based dispersion to create the waterproof barrier. Unlike PLA or PE-lined cups, there's no separate plastic layer — the coating is embedded directly into the paper fibres and uses approximately 70% less material than traditional cup linings. The result is a cup that's certified home compostable to AS5810.

Are these cups actually compostable at home?

Yes — certified to AS5810, which is the international standard for home composting. They break down within 180 days in typical home compost conditions. They're also certified to EN13432 for industrial composting facilities.

What's the difference between aqueous and PLA coating?

PLA coating: Plant-based bioplastic applied as a separate layer on top of paper. Requires industrial composting only — won't break down in home compost or landfill. Aqueous coating: Water-based dispersion embedded directly into paper fibres. Uses ~70% less waterproof material. Certified home compostable.

What lids fit these cups?
