Compostable Bags — Packaging That Returns to the Earth

We introduced compostable coffee bags back in 2014 — and the range has been refined ever since. Two routes below: NKME, where every component composts — valve, zipper, everything — and PLA, the plant-based entry point in kraft and matte finishes. Both offer a good barrier for coffee and dry foods and are certified EN 13432 — the claims your own packaging can carry under EU rules. Order from a single carton.

// Compostable NKME · Full Commitment

NKME Bags — 100% Compostable, Valve and Zipper Included

Every component breaks down — film, one-way valve, zipper, everything — with a slightly better barrier than PLA. For premium eco and zero-waste brands that want the whole bag to compost, not just the film.

// Compostable PLA · Plant-Based

PLA Bags — The Plant-Based Entry Point

Made from corn starch, in kraft and matte finishes with a good barrier for coffee and dry foods. A strong, affordable way into compostable packaging — ideal for DTC brands and farmers' markets.

Which Route Fits Your Brand?

Compostable doesn't mean one thing. Here's the difference — and what it means for your customers.

Since 2014

A decade of doing this

We introduced compostable coffee bags in 2014 — long before it was fashionable. That's a decade of testing barriers, valves and seals so your product stays fresh while the packaging keeps its promise.

Compostable Packaging FAQs

We offer both home and industrially compostable options. Each product page states the compostability route for that bag, so you can match the claim on your own packaging to what the bag actually does. If in doubt, ask us before you print.

Our compostable range uses plant-based films: PLA (from corn starch) with kraft or matte finishes, and NKME constructions where every component — film, valve and zipper — is compostable. Both offer a good barrier suitable for coffee and dry foods.

Yes — our compostable bags have a good barrier and are available with one-way degassing valves for freshly roasted coffee. The barrier is lower than high-barrier foil, so they suit products that sell within a few months rather than long-life export stock.

Compostable materials are part of the sustainability toolkit alongside our recyclable mono-PE range. Certified EN 13432 compostability substantiates the claims you print on your own packaging — always confirm final on-pack wording with your advisors.
